Andrew Sale was born and raised in Southern California. He moved to Washington in Fall 2011 to attend Gonzaga University in Spokane. On his first day of Freshman Orientation, he met his future wife, Amelia Sale (formerly Amelia Pirkle), who was born and raised in Mount Vernon, Washington. While at Gonzaga, Andrew double majored in Sociology and Criminal Justice, with the goal of becoming a police officer after graduation. Andrew began his career as a police officer in San Francisco, California, at the Federal Reserve Bank. He later joined the San Jose Police Department, where he worked for two years. During this time, Amelia attended and graduated from Santa Clara University School of Law, became a licensed attorney in California, and began her career as a Corporate Attorney in Palo Alto.

In Spring 2019, Andrew and Amelia decided it was time to move away from their busy city life in California and move back to Skagit County, Washington, to Amelia’s home town. Amelia is a third-generation Skagit County resident. Her parents, Lawrence (“Loren”) and Sara Pirkle are high-school sweethearts from Mount Vernon High School. Loren started his law practice, Pirkle Law Firm, Inc. P.S., in 1989, specializing in corporate and estate planning. Andrew and Amelia moved to Mount Vernon in Fall 2019. Amelia became a licensed attorney in Washington and now works alongside her Dad at Pirkle Law Firm. Andrew transferred and joined the Marysville Police Department and protected the citizens of Marysville for over two years.

As a police officer, Andrew thrived in challenging and complex situations while on patrol and focused his attention on maintaining strong community partnerships with his communities he served and protected. Andrew’s daily duties included: proactively patrolling his assigned district, de-escalating violent confrontations, conducting self-initiated investigations and arrests of criminals, and establishing/maintaining strong community partnerships. He took on many roles and learned to deal with a diverse range of people. In San Jose, he worked on the crime-ridden streets of District Lincoln where he dealt with hostile gang members. He learned how to negotiate and conduct in depth interviews, resulting in more prosecution of criminal gang members. In Marysville, he positively impacted the community by listening to the community’s needs and developed effective patrol tactics to enforce the law and arrest criminals, resulting in a safer community.

In his line of work as a police officer for six years, Andrew worked tirelessly to make his communities in San Francisco, San Jose and Marysville safer. He learned that attention to detail can result in big outcomes and discoveries. He became creative in navigating legislative challenges that made policing difficult with emphasis on providing excellent service to the community resulting in positive outcomes. He strived for the administration of justice. During his time as a police officer, he supported individuals who had become victims of crime, protecting them from their abusers.
